who are we?

We are a family-run business borne out of a love for cycling, meeting new people and sharing the wonderful experiences to be had only on a bike.  At the core of our business are a husband and wife team, Matt and Rebecca.  Born and raised in North Wales, they have spent the last 30 years getting to know every nook, cranny, trail, single track, lane, road - you name it - in the local area.

After a three and a half year period of working in the hubbub of the city in London, they both returned to North Wales to realise their dream of setting up their own business.  After a long time spent looking, they eventually found the right property for them.  Three years and a considerable amount of renovation later, Bryn Tawel Guest Accommodation and mash the pedals are ready to launch!

We have a number of guides who are able to advise and demonstrate in a range of cycling disciplines.  One of our guides is a veteran of multiple Etape Du Tours and countless sportive events.  A typical 'rouleur', Richard is a master of survival when it comes to big days in big hills.  He has survived scorching heat on Ventoux (Etape 2006), sub zero temperatures in the hills of North Wales and likes nothing better than riding up hill into a head wind!  He's had articles published in Cycling Weekly describing some classic routes in the locality.

Another of our guides is the current Welsh Hill Climbing Champion, Dan Evans.  A superb climber, Dan has broken numerous club records this year and competed at the National Hill Climb Championships.  His background however was MTB, where he spent 6 years racing and competing all over the country.  He is also a mean TT'er.

We then have John C, another veteran of monument rides such as the Marmotte, Lands End to John O'Groats, Dragon Ride, etc.  A 'puncheur' in every sense of the word, John can mix it with the best of them, over long, rolling terrain, and still manage the winning sprint at the end.  With 13 years road racing experience and 8 years of mashing the local hills on his mountain bike, you instantly know you're in good hands.

We also have our very own Sports Therapist who can provide the best leg, back and neck massage in North Wales.  He can also advise on all aspects of nutrition for pre, during and post events, along with the periods in between and can help with sport related injuries.

Then there is Matt.  An avid cyclist from the age of 2, Matt has spent the last 35 years on two wheels of various shapes and forms.  What drives him is the countless challenges to be  found and overcome from riding his bike(s).  A veteran of a number Etape's, countless Sportives, road and track racing and distance riding challenges (last year he followed in the pedal strokes of the old bike race from Holyhead to Marble Arch, riding the 276 miles in 16hrs 40 and this year joined Geraint Thomas to cycle from Cardiff to Denbigh)

And finally, we have the true backbone of the enterprise, Matt's wife Rebecca.  Ever patient, she is the planner and logistics guru who ensures the smooth running of rides and days out.  A true multi-tasker, Rebecca doubles up as the broom wagon driver should it be needed, kit transporter, super chef for delicious home cooked meals, sewist for any clothing repairs and baker of the best flapjacks and cake you'll ever meet.
